![]() This strategy also means there's a small chance of you getting lucky and not triggering the Crypt before you get back to Last Hope, then into Reknor, which means you can put off the Crypt until you return from the East (at which point it'll be easily doable).Ī bit late, but I only just saw this. You can usually get close to 30 by the end of Dreadfell, which gives you a better chance at completing the over-leveled Crypt. ![]() If you do want to do the Crypt, my advice is to enter Dreadfell at level 23, ideally as close to 24 as possible. As a result, I usually skip the Crypt rather than risk my character. It's an enormous risk for minimal payoff. When playing on Nightmare/Insane, this means facing level ~40 enemies, including an abundance of casters, with no ability to retreat a floor, and the very real possibility of the map dropping you into an open room with multiple enemies in LoS. The Dark Crypt, however, triggers at level 24 no matter what difficulty you're on. You'll end up entering each zone at a higher level than usual to offset the increased scaling. Zone scaling on higher difficulties normally isn't much of a factor, because early zones will scale up and continue to give experience as opposed to being "too easy" and giving you the option to stroll to the boss. I seem to get destroyed by Hexes mainly in DC, since they take forever to wear off and keep you from dealing with.anything. If it matters - my last few runs are all with Reaver since I want a win with it. I guess I feel like I'm copping out, not taking on the toughest stuff that's on offer? But I have littered the Dark Crypt with my character corpses at this point, and I'm trying to figure out if this is a "git gud" situation, or if I'm being foolish.ĭo most of y'all who play on Nightmare+ just skip these locations? Do you plan ahead and collect blight res+ gear or something to make them manageable? I tend not to do that, partially because I often forget about DC until it pops, but also because it feels like "metagaming".I'm fine with collecting lightning resistance for Urkis because the game makes it abundantly clear you need it for a Lightning mage, but for stuff that you don't have in-game warnings about, I feel like I'm "supposed" to just be able to take it on with my wits and current equipment collection. ![]() I find that when I run into "challenge" areas like Dark Crypt, or even random stuff like Intimidating Caves or those underground grave sites, I have a hard time saying no. I've gotten a couple of Normal and Nightmare wins (on Adventure), and I've been going for Nightmare Roguelike recently.
